Sigourney Weaver Talks Ripley’s Potential Return to ALIEN Franchise

With the release of Alien: RomulusThere has been a lot of talk about the future of the franchise and whether this means we might one day see Sigourney Weaver return as Ripley.

The actress recently addressed this possibility, saying, “I feel like it’s never far from me, but on the other hand, I’ve yet to read a script that says, ‘You have to do this.'”

“So for me, she’s in this other dimension, safe from the alien for the moment. I don’t think about it too much, but you know, it’s not entirely impossible, and certainly a lot of good directors are inspired by the material.”

Weaver continued, “How much do audiences really need or want another Ripley movie? I don’t sit around and think about it, but if it were to happen, I would consider it. It’s happened a lot, but I’m also busy doing other things. Ripley has earned her rest.”

It’s nice that she’s willing to keep the door open if a script she likes actually comes along. There was a moment several years ago when she was on board to play Ripley in director’s by Neill Blomkamp Alien 5but in the end the project was abandoned.

Fox has decided to focus on Ridley Scottthe vision of franchising. Scott even said that Blomkamp Alien 5 “would never have seen the light.”

Speaking previously about working with Blomkamp, Weaver said, “I can’t think of a better director. He’s a true fan. I think he’ll be true to the world and take it in unexpected directions. He’s got a lot of energy. He’ll definitely stand up to others and probably break a lot of new ground as well.”

Weaver and Michael Biehn both would reprise their roles in the film and 1960-1969, James Cameron, 1969-1970, 1969- Both Weaver and Blomkamp have stated that they greatly appreciated the script written by Blomkamp.

We’ve seen some really cool concept art from the movie in the past and every time I look at it, I feel sad that this movie never got made.

The events of the film would pick up after the events of 1960-1969, James Cameron, 1969-1970, 1969-‘S Aliens and ignored the events of Alien 3 AND Alien: Resurrection.

Would you like to see Weaver return to play Ripley after all these years in a new Alien movie?
