Netflix has released a teaser trailer for a new hard-hitting action thriller from Indonesia titled The Shadow of the Strayswhich comes from writer and director Timo Tjahjanto. This movie looks really awesome and I can’t wait to watch it!
Codenamed 13, a 17-year-old assassin is determined to save a child from a criminal organization, even if it means going against her own mentor and the organization that hired her.
Aurora Ribero is the protagonist of the film and it looks like she has some seriously impressive ass-kicking skills. The synopsis reads: “Stripped of her past and trained in the deadly art of fucking your shit up, teenage assassin Codename 13 works diligently for a clandestine assassin collective known as The Shadow.
“After a mission in Japan goes badly, his mentor, Umbra (Hana Malasan), recovers the lost ball, but sends her to Indonesia on a disciplinary probationary period.
“While hiding out in the slums of Jakarta, a chance encounter with a young boy who has run afoul of a local criminal organization soon embroils the restless and rebellious 13 in an unsanctioned crusade, inciting a series of bloody battles that paint the city every shade of red, as well as raising the ire of its ruthless administration.”
The description says: “Not since The night comes for us Indonesia’s leading architect of ultraviolent actions, Timo Tjahjanto, conducted such a meticulous martial arts massacre.
“Opening with a masterful scene that annihilates dozens of yakuza, his latest film takes the form of a sort of taxonomy of the action genre with a series of sword fights, shoot-em-ups and old-fashioned brawls…”
Oh yeah! Sign me up! I’m ready to try this movie! Netflix will release The Shadow of the Strays October 17, 2024.
