Twister tells the story of Dr. Jo Harding, a courageous and devoted storm chaser, and her ex-husband, Bill Harding, also an expert meteorologist.
The couple, on the brink of divorce, must join forces when an unprecedented series of powerful tornadoes threatens to wreak havoc in Oklahoma. Their mission is to install a revolutionary device called “Dorothy” that can collect vital data from the heart of a tornado, which could significantly improve the early warning system for severe weather events.
As they race against time and the elements, Jo and Bill’s passion for their work rekindles their relationship, even as they must confront their personal demons and past traumas related to the tornado that devastated Jo’s family years earlier.
The film was directed by Jan de Bont and featured revolutionary special effects for its time.
