Giancarlo Esposito is set to make his MCU debut in the next Captain America: Brave New Worldand it has not yet been revealed which character he will play.
Since he was cast in the film, rumors have been circulating: some say he could play Doctor Doom, while others say he could play George Washington “GW” Bridge.
Now, Esposito has thrown a spanner in the works on all the theories, saying that no one has yet guessed who his “tough guy” character is!
The actor said at the Fanboy Expo in Knoxville (via ComicBookMovie):
“The character I play is a tough guy. That always excites me. For me, developing that character in line with the beginning of the character is a fascinating art. I had a lot of fun shooting it. I won’t tell you who I play… People try to guess and no one has guessed correctly yet.”
So, back to the drawing board! Esposito’s mysterious character is featured in the latest trailer, who do you think it could be?
What we know is that in the movie, Antonio Mackie returned to the role of Sam Wilson, who is now Captain America. The film also stars Liv Tyler, The Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, Rose Salazar, Danny RamirezAND Carlo Lumbe.
Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) directs the film from a screenplay written by Dalan Musson AND Malcolm Spellmanboth of whom wrote for The Falcon and the Winter SoldierSpellman will produce the film alongside Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
Captain America: Brave New World will arrive on February 14, 2025.
