Community fans have been waiting for a long time for the movie spin-off to materialize, and in recent years it has only moved forward, but only incrementally. The creator of the show, Dan Harmonhe’s a busy guy, with his other series Krapopolis coming to an end, and Rick and Morty It’s still going strong. However, he offered us an update on the matter Community: the film.
In a recent interview with Variety, Harmon said that the next time you see him on Instagram doing something other than writing the movie Community, please don’t yell at him to get back to work. It’s happening, Harmon promises, but there are so many moving parts that there’s never been a clear timeline.
“When you see me making fart videos on the Internet, don’t worry, it means I gave up on making the film. That’s not how time or industry works. If you see me doing anything other than typing, it’s not because I stopped typing. It’s because when I get on Instagram, I don’t want to make videos about typing.”
Harmon’s update is that he’s making a final pass on the script, but that’s also not the reason the cameras aren’t rolling yet.
“I’m going to use the time we have to do one last pass on this thing that hopefully makes everyone really excited and happy. In the meantime, can you call them delays when I mean, did we have a shooting day? The engine is still running.
And, he points out, there’s no one person, or one reason, why it’s taking time for the project — set to premiere on Peacock — to arrive immediately.
“I saw where Donald Glover said he heard from fans that they think he’s the reason the movie isn’t coming out sooner. I immediately wanted to go to my Instagram and say, “Stop yelling at Donald!” Do you want to scare this guy?’ He wants to make the movie, stop haranguing him! He is not the reason, no single human being could be the reason for the delays. The frustrating thing is that our engine moves so slowly and so easily derails and stalls. The timing is very different for us than for the fans. Fans feel 900 times more anxiety per minute than this machine that ultimately gives them the movie.”
So we just have to hold on a little longer. For now, all we know is that they include returning cast members Joel McHale, Donald Glover, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Ken JeongAND Yvette Nicole Brown.
Are you excited for this movie to finally arrive?
