Matt Bomer and Nathan Lane to Star in Golden Girls-Like MID-CENTURY MODERN Comedy Series on Hulu

Matt Bomer (magical Mike, Master, Destiny Patrol) AND Nathan Lane (bird cage, The Lion King, Modern family) have signed on to star in a Golden girlscomedy series similar to the title Mid-century moderna multi-camera series for Hulu, which he executive produces Ryan Murphy and created by Will & Grace Max Mutchnick and David Kohan.

Sources reveal that Bomer will take on the role of the ditzy Rose-like character played by White Betty in the original Golden girlswith Lane confronting Dorothy (Bea Arthur) of the group. Linda Lavin she will play Lane’s mother, like the original Sophia.

The new series will be set in the gay mecca of Palm Springs. James Burrows he is directing the pilot. Mutchnick, Kohan, Burrows, Lane and Bomer will also serve as executive producers. 20th Television is the studio.

Hulu said in a statement:

“The series follows three best friends – gay gentlemen of a certain age – who, after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs where the richest one lives with his mother and a naked housekeeper from Gen Z.

Mid-century modern stars Nathan Lane as Bunny Schneiderman, Matt Bomer as Jerry Frank, and Linda Lavin as Sybil Schneiderman, Bunny’s mother. A successful businessman with one foot in retirement, Bunny is forever searching for love, but first he must convince himself that he is worthy of it.

Like her son, Sybil’s strengths are her weaknesses: wise, thoughtful, and iconoclastic, which at times means she is critical, stifling, and amoral. Jerry left the Mormon church and his marriage in his early twenties after his wife informed him and the rest of the congregation that she was homosexual.

Now a Latter-day Saint in the literal sense of the word, Jerry is pure of heart. He is also hard of body and soft of head. “

It looks like it’s going to be a fun new series and I can’t wait to see who else they choose to star.
