Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, Watchmen) will star and executive produce the upcoming Netflix series adaptation The man on fire.
Director Steven Cape Jr. (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Creed II) will direct the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer on the project.
The design is based on that of AJ Quinnell The man on fire AND The perfect kill, which are the first two books in a five-book series. This story was previously adapted as a film in 2004 with Denzel Washington.
In the new series, Abdul-Mateen II will take on the role of John Creasy, “a once highly effective and experienced special forces mercenary known for surviving even the most desolate situations.
“Creasy is now suffering from intense post-traumatic stress disorder. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he embarks on a path to redemption. But before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.”
Kyle Killen (Street of fear) is the writer, executive producer and showrunner of the project.
