Cillian Murphy breaks silence on PEAKY BLINDERS movie – ‘This one’s for the fans’

Cilian Murphy broke the silence on the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders film in development on Netflix.

A photo of the script was shared and Murphy confirmed that he will definitely return as Tommy Shelby, accompanied by a note from the actor.

The note reads: “Looks like Tommy Shelby wasn’t done with me… It’s very gratifying to be able to re-team with Steven Knight AND Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.

Steven Knight previously said of Murphy: “He’ll definitely be back for this. We’re filming it in September just down the road in Digbeth. But it’s nice to hear it from Murphy himself.

Murphy has already expressed interest in returning, saying: “If there was more story there, I’d love to do it. But it has to be right. Steve Knight wrote 36 Hours of Television and we’re off to such a high. I’m really proud of this latest series. So it should seem legitimate and justified to do more.”

Murphy also said, “I’ve always said that if Knight delivers a script that I know he can deliver, because he’s a phenomenal writer, I’ll be there. … If we want to watch 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, I’ll be there. Let’s do it.”

Well, the script has been delivered and it’s great to see that Murphy is excited to return to this role once again!

Knight has spoken about the film in the past, saying: “The film, I know exactly what it’s about. And I know which two stories it will tell. What happens next, I want it to depend on the film. For all we know someone will turn up, I think I know who it will be.

I’m excited to see the Peaky Blinders the story continues with this film!
