We have a new photo to share with you Tim Burton’S Beetle juice Beetle juice with a beautiful shot of Michael Keaton again as the Ghost with the Most.
The image comes from Empire, and Keaton spoke about his “surreal” experience returning to the character after all these years.
Speaking about the pop culture aspect, he said: “There was so much merchandising that I had to go back to square one. I had to ask myself, “What was my unusual imagination thinking about as I was developing it?” Instead of seeing a cup of coffee or the cover of a golf club [adorned with Betelgeuse’s face].”
He went on to admit, “It was damn weird. To be honest, I’m very frank, it was disheartening to look and say, “I don’t want to look like all these little things, screw it, what was the thing that started this?” ?’”
Keaton then spoke about the film, saying: “I love this thing. And I don’t [usually] talk like that. I unashamedly love it. It wasn’t easy to do it, and I think we did it great.”
Burton then jumped in to discuss working with Keaton: “It was like he was possessed by a demon, because he went right back to it.”
Co-star Catherine O’Hara he added: “It was crazy, crazy. It was as if an armed animal had just entered the room. Seeing him physically change and appear and Michael Keaton disappear, and dealing with this guy from Betelgeuse… it blew my mind.
In the film, “After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the city in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened.
“With trouble looming in both kingdoms, it’s only a matter of time before someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to wreak his own personal havoc.”
The family tragedy is confirmed to be the death of Charles Deetz, and you can all thank Lydia’s daughter for bringing Beetlejuice back.
Michael Keaton is joined by Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, O’Hara as Delia Deetz, with new cast members Justin Theroux (Leftovers), Monica Bellucci (Spectrum, the Matrix films), Arturo Conti (House of the Dragon), Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream VI) as Lydia ‘s daughter Astrid, and Willem Dafoe as a B-movie action star who died and became a police officer in the afterlife.
