Ghostbusters: The Frozen Empire had a decent opening weekend at the box office, but for many fans the film proved to be a disappointment. Franchise star Ernie Hudson was recently asked about another disappointing one ghost Buster film, 2016 Paolo Feigedirect reboot.
During an interview with The Independent, Hudson said that the decision to reboot the franchise instead of continuing from the original films wasn’t the best idea. She shared: “Look, I’m a fan of [director] Paul Feig so I have nothing bad to say about him. Aside: I don’t really understand why you do a reboot, you know what I mean? Just make another movie.
Hudson went on to say that he found the cast to be female-led Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnonAND Leslie Jones they were “brilliantly entertaining in their own right”, but he explained that fans were truly “invested in”. [original] story and characters and I think it was disappointing. I liked the movie, but I think it wasn’t what fans were hoping for.
I’ll be honest, though, Frozen empire, it’s not even what I was hoping for. What’s interesting here is that the ghost Buster reboot has a 74% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an audience rating of 49%. Ghostbusters: The Frozen Empire it has a critic score of 43% and an audience score of 84%. So things have changed.
Frozen empire it’s a fun movie, but when I watched it a second time, there were a lot of things that didn’t make sense in the story. I’m sure we’ll see more Ghostbusters movies made and as the creative team moves forward with the franchise I hope they learn from their mistakes.
