Sony Pictures Animation is reportedly producing an animated film Poison feature film and the studio is said to have hired him Seth Rogen (The boys, invincible) to write and produce it.
The news comes from a Hollywood insider @CanWeGetToastwho states that this film should also be developed as an R-rated film.
Rogen is no stranger to these types of adult-focused comic book adaptations, and the Venom story seems like something that would be right up his alley. I could see Rogen doing something really cool with this project!
If this news is true, it will be the first Marvel project Rogen will be a part of. When previously asked why he hadn’t worked with Marvel or DC yet, he responded, “Honestly, I’m probably scared. We really have a pretty specific way of working; Evan and I [Goldberg] they’ve been writers for 20 years at this point. It’s a fear of the process, honestly. And I say this without knowing anything about the process. There’s a lot of Marvel things I love.”
He added: “It’s mostly about fear of how we might fit into the system that they have in place, which seems like a great system and a system that serves them very well. But is it a system that would ultimately make us really frustrated?” with? And what’s great about it [‘Mutant Mayhem’] it’s that we are the producers of it. So we dictated the system and we dictated the process in many ways.”
Making an animated Poison films for Sony Pictures instead of Marvel, Rogen won’t have to worry about the system he fears. What do you think about the possibility of Rogen developing an animated film? Poison movie?
