Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Storya short film that gives Miles Morales a horror story of sorts.
The short film focuses on “what happens when Miles Morales (once again played by Shameik Moore) begins to feel the pressure of his life as Spider-Man, which results in a scary little jaunt through his subconscious.
The trailer shows Miles arriving home, with his father complaining about Miles coming home late. As Miles tries to relax on his bed, his thoughts start racing about being Spider-Man and anxiety takes over.
The short was directed by Jarelle Dampierand the synopsis reads: “Miles Morales struggles to balance his responsibilities as a teenager, friend, and student while acting as Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. After a particularly challenging day dealing with these pressures, Miles experiences a bout of panic that forces him to face the manifestations of his anxiety and learn that asking for help can be as courageous an act as protecting his city from harm.”
The short film will premiere on Sony Pictures Animation’s YouTube channel at 6 am. PT on March 27. The full short film was made in collaboration with #KevinLoveFund and the mental health-focused curriculum.
