Have you ever dreamed of making your own feature film? Well, here’s your chance and you’ll get $7,000 to do it.
FilmQuest, James Cullen Bressack and Sandaled Kid Productions have joined forces to launch an exciting new opportunity for both emerging and seasoned filmmakers. Through Bressack’s production company, filmmakers will receive $7,000 to create an entire feature film with guaranteed distribution and release.
It’s called the Greenlight Initiative and it’s the brainchild of James Cullen Bressack, whose goal is to give filmmakers the same kind of start he had when he made his first feature film at just 18 years old.
Bressack explained the vision behind the program, saying:
“I started the Greenlight Initiative to help filmmakers create their first feature film like I did at 18, with the same budget, and to give some experienced filmmakers a space to make bold, unique work.
“This year I partnered with Cleopatra Entertainment to select 12 directors for original genre films, following last year’s collaboration with VChannels. I am grateful to both companies for believing in the vision.
“This is for the dreamers who were told they couldn’t make a film, I see you. I am you. Don’t let anyone say it’s impossible. I’m thrilled to present the final Greenlight of this year’s lineup at FilmQuest, one of my favorite genre festivals that I’ve had the honor of screening at in the past.”
The program has already seen success with the action-packed film Penance, which had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest this fall, showing what can be done with creativity, grit and just seven thousand dollars.
If you have a great idea for a low-budget genre film and the desire to make it happen, this could be your big chance. Applications for the $7,000 Greenlight Micro-Budget Prize are open now, but don’t wait too long: the deadline to register is October 20.
