According to Variety, a new documentary will examine director James Cameron’s painstaking work in bringing Avatar to the big screen.

The documentary “Fire and Water: The Making of the Avatar Movies” will premiere exclusively on the Disney+ streaming service on November 7. The two-part documentary will explore the making of 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water, as well as the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash, through behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with actors and directors. Among many names: James Cameron, late producer Jon Landau, and actors Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Kate Winslet.
Avatar follows Jake Sully and the Neytiri clan on the alien planet Pandora. The original 2009 blockbuster and its much-delayed sequel The Way of Water grossed more than $2 billion worldwide, becoming the two highest-grossing films in history. Cameron, meanwhile, is the only director whose three films have grossed more than two billion dollars; the second is Titanic.
By the way, it was previously known that James Cameron plans to create an animated anthology based on the Avatar universe.
