Good news for fans of unusual astronomical events. In October, comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon), which last approached our planet in the 670s, will pass close to Earth. It is stated that such events occur every 1.35 thousand years. True, it will be possible to see the object with the naked eye only in Moscow, said Evgenia Kravchenko, senior researcher at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

According to him, the comet will make its closest approach to Earth on October 21, passing at a distance of less than 90 million km. It is stated that the object will be found in the western part of the sky immediately after sunrise. Landmark: bright reddish star Arcturus. It is located near the constellations Gamma Bootes and Mirac, and the comet will be located approximately midway between them. However, since the movements of celestial bodies are variable, the situation may change as the date approaches.
This phenomenon is considered unique since the time when this comet last approached the Earth, when Slavic tribes formed on the territory of modern Russia, and the first siege of Constantinople continued in Europe and the Middle East, reports Evgenia Kravchenko from AGN Moscow.
By the way, other unusual events await us in October: a series of falling stars. See the detailed program here.
