George Miller offered some additional details about his upcoming film Furiosa: A Max Max Saga this is sure to get fans excited about what we can expect from this awesome looking film!
The director revealed that the story told by this film takes place over the course of 15 years and leads directly to the events of Mad Max: Road Fury. Miller shared:
“The story is the saga of Furiosa, and how she gets taken away from home and spends the rest of her life trying to get back. [In] Fury Road, the story unfolds over three days and two nights. This film follows the story directly from Fury Road, for 15 years.”
Well, it looks like it’s going to be an insanely epic story! Miller goes on to tout it by saying, “It’s a different animal. It has many different positions. It’s an odyssey. No question.”
Miller has been trying to make this move for a long time and is the original star of Furiosa Charlize Theron he even tried to convince Miller to make the film while he was prepping Way of Fury. George explained, “She said, ‘Please, George, can we do this first?’ It was the first time I realized that there is something really strong in this story.” Now Anya Taylor-Gioia he took on the role with Theron’s blessing. Speaking about this Taylor-Joy said:
“She was so kind and classy to let me go and do it. But I feel very lucky because, from the moment I read the script, I knew this person. I felt so fiercely protective of Furiosa and fiercely protective of her interests. I was so excited to shave my head. Then George saw me in real life and said, ‘No, we can’t!’”
As for a possible appearance by Max Rockatansky himself, Miller said, “I won’t reveal too much about it. All I’ll say is that Max is lurking in the background.”
In the film, “As the world fell apart, young Furiosa is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a large horde of bikers led by Warlord Dementus. Traveling through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe As the two Tyrants battle for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she marshals the means to find her way home.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will be released in theaters on May 24, 2024.
