Fires broke out in Kyiv and the surrounding Kyiv region after a massive missile strike by Russian forces, the Telegram channel Osvedomitel reported.
Published footage showed flames and columns of smoke over the city. One video reportedly captured the moment an Iskander-M ballistic missile carrying a cluster warhead struck.
Dozens of missiles reported
At least 35 missiles had hit Kyiv by the time of reporting, according to the Mash Telegram channel, which said the attack by Russian forces was continuing.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a fire had broken out in the city's Sviatoshynskyi district, adding that the buildings on fire were nonresidential.
Earlier reports said Russian Zircon missiles had also struck Kyiv. Military correspondents said at least 12 ballistic and hypersonic missiles had been fired.
