Will Forte Talks Scrapping COYOTE VS. ACME, he calls it “incredible”

Over the past few months we’ve heard a lot of news about the scrapped Warner Bros. film, Coyotes vs. Acme. The movie, just like the WB one Bad girl, was filmed in its entirety and received great response from those who were lucky enough to see it. Both films had solid stories and great casts that made them both seem profitable, but WB decided to use both of these films as tax deductions instead of allowing them to be seen. It’s an unfortunate situation, and it’s made even worse by the stars of the films who have been able to see the films and can attest to how good they are!

In a recent social media post, Coyotes vs. Acme actor Will Forte (Saturday night live, Nebraska) has explained:

“I know many of you haven’t had the chance to see our film. And sadly it looks like you never will. When I first heard that our film was going to be “cancelled”, I hadn’t seen it yet. So I was thinking what everyone else must have been thinking: this thing must be a piece of junk. But then I saw it. And it’s incredible.”

Forte continued to smile about the film in which he is the protagonist John Cena AND Lana Condor:

“Super funny all around, visually stunning, sweet, heartfelt and emotionally resonant in a way that’s truly deserved. As the credits rolled, I sat there thinking about how lucky I was to be a part of something so special. This quickly turned into confusion and frustration. Was this the film they wouldn’t release?

“Look, when it comes to Hollywood business, I don’t know shit about anything. Even when a film does very well (like ours), there is no guarantee that it will be a success. And in the end, the people who paid for this movie can obviously do whatever they want with it. That doesn’t mean I have to like it (I fucking hate it). Or agree. And that doesn’t mean this movie is anything but great.”

Forte concludes his note:

“You would be so proud of it: a film that should be seen, but won’t. Keep in mind that all the years and years of hard work, dedication and love you put into this film shows in every frame. That’s all folks, Will Forte.”

The ax of Coyotes vs. Acme drew the ire of all of Hollywood, especially the animation community (Phil Lord and Chris Miller) to the film’s Oscar-winning composer Steven Price (who collected a trophy for another Warner Bros. film, Severity.

Soon after, news broke that Warner was killing the film, the third during the studio’s Zaslav era Bad girl AND Scoob Holiday Hangout, the studio received numerous calls from agents and directors such as Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro. Warner quickly decided to hold an auction for the film with Netflix and Paramount submitting bids of between $30 and $50 million, however, that was lower than Warner’s asking price of $70 million.
