IGN has released a new clip from Guillermo del Toro’S Frankensteinwith the stars of the film Giacobbe Elordi like The Creature and Oscar Isaac as scientist Victor Frankenstein. It’s also in the cast My Gothic as Elizabeth Harlander, Felix Kammerer as Victor’s brother, William, and Christoph Waltz as Heinrich Harlander.
In a recent interview with Variety, del Toro explained what drives this adaptation on a deeper emotional level. “For me, [the message] it’s emotionally reconnecting to the idea of the power of forgiveness and acceptance – which is absolutely… very scarce material right now,” he said.
“It’s not a blockbuster, a preconceived concept. It’s not a franchise. It’s something that speaks very directly and autobiographically, unfortunately to me and to many in the past.”
While the first reactions to Frankenstein were mixed, full reviews have been positive, with the film currently holding an 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 96 reviews. The film’s dark, emotional tone and rich visuals appear to have resonated with audiences who appreciate del Toro’s signature blend of horror and humanity.
Frankenstein will be released in select theaters on October 17 before its global debut on Netflix on November 7. Check out the new clip below and let us know what you think:
