Succession star Sarah Snook recently talked about what Brian Cox it was like on the set of the series while I played the ruthless media baron Logan Roy. It turns out that even when Cox wasn’t in character as the menacing media baron, he was still channeling the character between takes and having “thunderous” outbursts on set.
While speaking to Mariella Frostrup on Times Radio, Snook laughed and said, “He has a habit of sometimes getting fake — or it could be real, who knows? – diabetic rabies, where will it go [growl] suddenly.”
He continued, “I think part of it is trying to shake up the energy of the set and rustle some feathers, get it going and moving faster. Sure the quality of his voice can be truly terrifying at times. Thunderer.”
Cox suffers from type 2 diabetes and his co-star Kieran Culkin he has joked in the past that he would “scream” if he was hungry on set. Cox admitted to these outbursts of anger, saying, “Well, yeah, I get angry because I’m diabetic.”
Snook isn’t the only one Succession the actress to talk about how intimidating Cox can be. Co-star Justine Lupe said the actor was capable of being “incredibly scary”, while J Smith-Cameronshe said it was “terrifying” to work with him at times.
Justine Lupe previously shared: “Brian has moments where he is incredibly intimidating on and off camera. He has a power over himself as a person and I think he knows that about himself. That said, he’s also one of the kindest people I’ve interacted with on set… he’s always been so sweet and supportive.”
Cox seems like a lovely individual, as long as he’s been eating.
