In news that isn’t news at all, Hollywood is running out of new ideas and are remaking not one, but two classic films. Second The Insider (via World of Reel), the American psycho the remake will follow Harron’s 2000 film, based on Bret Easton Ellis’ novel, which he starred in Cristiano Balla in one of his wildest, most charismatic and psychotic roles, as 1980s Wall Street sociopath Patrick Bateman. Lionsgate is currently looking for a writer to reboot the film for the modern era, with a new take on the character.
David Cronenberg film from 1983 The dead zone was based on the novel of the same name by Stephen Kingand he was the protagonist Christopher Walken like a man who awakens from a coma to discover that he has the psychic ability to predict future events.
Both of these films were great and neither needed a remake. We, as viewers, are desperate for new material, and the sad part is that there are writers and directors out there with original ideas, but studios are more likely to bet on something that has already worked rather than something new .
Would you like to see updated versions of any of these films?
