Sony’s SILK: SPIDER SOCIETY series reportedly eliminates writer space

It seems Sony had some trouble getting it Silk: Spider Society floor series. A few months ago it was reported that the series had been put on hold. Now we learn from The Ankler that the producer has scrapped the show’s entire writers’ room, minus the showrunner and co-executive producer, Walking Dead‘S Angela Kang.

The report states that Kang will continue to serve as showrunner for the series, which centers on Korean-American spider-heroine Cindy Moon. The series is also produced by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse duo Phil Lord AND Christopher Millerwith Kai Wu AND Jim Barnes co-executive producer.

It is explained that the series has been “refocused with a more male-oriented audience in mind.” I don’t know if this has anything to do with how Madame Web turned out, but the studio and Prime Video have had success with many of her men’s series, including Reacher, Jack Ryan AND The terminal.

All they have to focus on is telling a great, beautiful story for Cindy Moon! It could be a show for men, women, or both, and if the story is good I’ll watch it! I mean, the male character is a young woman, and she’s a badass character! They just need to tell her story properly!

Apparently several episodes had been written and the writers were already deep into the first season before the strike began. The studio obviously wasn’t happy with how things were going. Kevin Feige did the same thing Daredevil: Born Again while it was in the midst of production, but Sony made the big change during the writing process.

Silk: Spider Society The series will tell the story if it follows Cindy Moon, who was previously described in casting descriptions for the series as a 19- to 29-year-old Korean-American kid from Queens who is on her own for the first time. Although she is a complete beginner in law enforcement and crime fighting, she is said to love the feeling of beating up criminals to vent her frustrations and she has an affinity for 80s pop culture and ’90. She also struggles with her identity and her heritage, but tries to focus on her family, her friends and her relationships.

From Amazon Catherine Pope she previously said in an interview: “It’s definitely a big goal for all of us here, and for me in particular. I was already a fan of Angela Kang, so I’m really, really excited to work with her on Silk. She’s just brilliant and a total professional. This is also an example of working closely with Tom Rothman and Sanford Panitch and the film crew, to make sure we are in step with them and also working on the same level. he did an incredible job with that franchise, so we want to make sure we perform at that level.”

Lord and Miller had also previously said in a joint statement: “We are very grateful to everyone at Sony Pictures Television for choosing to partner with us and expand our long-standing relationship with the studio. Together we aim to make innovative work of the highest quality and integrity.” , and to place that work in convenient proximity to your eyes and ears, wherever you are.”

Silk is such a great character, it shouldn’t be that hard to make a great series.
