Spock is the face of Star Trek for many fans, and for an entire generation to which that face belonged Zechariah Quintus. It’s been nine years since he last fired the Vulcan salute Star Trek Beyondand now he’s with pointy ears again, only this time the setting is a hospital corridor instead of the bridge.
As Ethan Peck carries on the legacy Star Trek: Strange New Worldswe met Quinto’s Spock in the Kelvin timeline films JJ Abramsand fans have been waiting for his return in another Star Trek movie. While it’s still a long way off, Quinto dressed up as Spock again for an episode of his series Brilliant minds.
ComicBook has shared a behind-the-scenes look at tonight’s Halloween episode of the show, and it shows Quinto’s Dr. Oliver Wolf showing up to the hospital party dressed as Spock. It is reached by Tamberla Perry as Dr. Carol Pierce, who is in full Uhura mode, meaning the pair will attend the festivities as a Starfleet matched couple.
A fourth film in the Kelvin timeline remains in development, though who knows if that will ever happen. So, in this episode it becomes a rare treat to see Quinto in that classic uniform again. It’s a costume party on Earth, not a warp mission, but it’s still itchy.
Spock has been the logical heart of Star Trek ever since Leonardo Nimoy first put on ears in the 1960s. Quinto’s interpretation honored that legacy while giving it a modern twist.
