Marvel Studios is reportedly looking to develop a Ghost Knight movie and that they want an A-list star to take on the role of the supernatural antihero. Kevin Feige He’s wanted to bring the Spirit of Vengeance into the MCU for years, and while there’s no time frame for that to happen, it’s something that will eventually move forward.
It was originally reported at one point that Ghost Rider would be developed as a “Marvel Studios Special Presentation,” but with Disney shifting its focus away from Disney+ to help boost theatrical profits, those plans may have shifted to the development as a feature film.
The news. comes from scooper @MyTimeToShineH, which shares Feige’s decision to turn Ghost Rider into a film. He then adds that “Sacha Baron Cohen will return, of course. And as for Ghost Rider, they want an A-Lister.”
In case you don’t remember, Cohen will reportedly play Mephisto in Marvel’s upcoming Ironheart series. Mephisto will appear “mostly” in his human form in the Ironheart series, but it’s said we’ll get “glimpses” of his true demonic appearance.
It was also previously reported that Mephisto is having The Hood steal technology that will be used to build “an advanced biosuit” in the series. The series is said to have a “Magic vs Tech” theme.
With all this, it would make sense to include Mephisto in a Ghost Rider movie. I like that the villain merges the worlds of magic and science in the MCU.
Ghost Rider is a really badass Marvel character and I would love to see him introduced into the MCU at some point. When he is, I hope Marvel does something crazy with him!
I’ll notice Ryan Gosling he has already expressed interest in playing Ghost Rider. Regarding this Feige said: “Hey man, if Ryan wants to be Ghost Rider… Gosling is amazing. Ryan is amazing. I would love to find a place for him in the MCU.”
