Jeff Goldblum stars in a commercial similar to a blockbuster movie trailer for his Apartments.com Super Bowl ad

A new teaser commercial has been released for an Apartments.com ad that will appear in the upcoming Superbowl game this Sunday. It features Jeff Goldblum as advertising personality Brad Bellflower, which he played for Apartments.com for about a decade. In the teaser-like advertisement, which is similar to the trailer for a major Hollywood blockbuster, Goldblum emerges as a crowd of soldiers and scientists watch an entity emit a bright light. “I may have misread the situation,” he says as eerie music plays.

Viewers quickly see graphics identifying a social media hashtag, #TheyAreHereToStay, said to be “Coming February.” Those who scan some of the fine print that appears at the bottom of the screen in the final seconds of the commercial may notice that the commercial is “A production of Bellflower Pictures in association with Apartments.com.”

Executives at Apartments.com and RPA won’t talk specifically about where the teasers might lead, but they acknowledge they see it as “a creative way to spark chatter,” says Fred Saint, president of CoStar Marketplaces, Apartments’ parent company. .com. The spot “has a big movie feel,” he adds. “It has the feel of a big stage. There’s a lot of drama in that.”
