Jodie Foster says director Martin Scorsese and his team were afraid of her on the set of TAXI DRIVER

Director Martin Scorsese made his mark in Hollywood with his first blockbuster film, Taxi driver, which earned four Oscar nominations and two Golden Globe nominations. Shockingly it didn’t win any awards that year, but it went up against films like Net, RockyAND All the president’s men, which overall won the awards. However it put Scorsese on the map and kept the star Robert De Niro on his trajectory after winning the Oscar two years earlier for his role in The Godfather Part II. De Niro solidified himself as a movie star with this part, after a few artistic films, shorts and a dozen feature films under his belt.

But at the time these careers were still quite short, especially when compared to those of younger people Taxi driver star, Jodie Fosterwhich the actress said made her slightly intimidating to the crew.

In a recent interview with W Magazine, talking about his recent Golden Globe nomination for his role in the film NyadFoster explained:

“When I first worked with Martin Scorsese I was probably about 10 years old, I think. I did Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, and that was maybe his third Marty movie. And then by the time I started making Taxi Driver, when I was 12, I had made a lot more films than they had made at that point. They were definitely scared of me. They didn’t know what to do with me. I don’t know if I was the smart one in the room, but they definitely were intimidated in some way. Like, ‘What do I do with this 12-year-old?'”

When they reunited Taxi driver, was only Scorsese’s eighth feature film, while Foster had more than 35 film and television projects in his repertoire. She was an experienced actress at 13, when she made it Taxi driver, and it must have been intimidating for some to see the most experienced person on set being “just a kid”.

He went on to perform in over 80 roles throughout his career The Silence of the Lambs, The accused, Mavericks, Contact, Panic room, Hotel ArtemideAND The Mauritanian to name a few. She won two Oscars and will next be seen in HBO’s highly anticipated fourth season True detectivewhich will debut on HBO and Max on January 14th.

Scorsese has done quite well for himself too, winning an Oscar, three Emmys, a Grammy, three Golden Globes, and the esteemed Cecil B. DeMille Award.
