We learned this earlier this week Jon Favreau was directing to Star Wars film entitled The Mandalorian and Grogu. This is pretty exciting news and I assume it would be in addition to The Mandalorian Season 4, but that may not be the case.
According to a report from Making Star Wars, this film is most likely a retooling of the The Mandalorian Season 4. This is a rumor that started spreading a few months ago, so now it seems like there might be some truth to it.
This has also been reported The Mandalorian and Grogu it could be the start of a trilogy that will also include Dave Filoni’s untitled film that will bring together the entire New Republic saga.
The report says: “I will add one caveat, which is just my impression, is that it is a trilogy if the first one connects. [The Mandalorian and Grogu] it’s a big film, they’ll make two more. If the first one doesn’t do it and he becomes Indiana Jones [and the Dial of Destiny] money, then they will only do the two things [already announced] and wash your hands of it.”
Favreau previously shared a statement with the film’s announcement, saying, “I’ve loved telling stories set in the rich world George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
We don’t have any other details to share, but I’m excited that we’ll see the adventures of the Mandalorian and Grogu continue to unfold on the big screen!
It is believed The Mandalorian and Grogu will be released in theaters on May 22, 2026. But that date has not been confirmed.
