It took Blumhouse more than a decade to get it Five Nights at Freddy’s film made and released theatrically, and it was worth it. The movie turned out great in the end! At least I had fun! A sequel to the film is now in development, and the studio hopes to film it later this year for a Halloween 2024 release.
The star of the film, Josh Hutcherson, recently shared an update on the sequel, saying, “I know they’re finalizing the story right now and want to get started as soon as possible. Obviously, the fans are amazing and die hard. For me to be a part of it was amazing and phenomenal.”
The actor went on to talk about his desire for the film to connect with audiences, and spoke of his excitement at returning to set for filming: “We were hoping it would connect with audiences. But I don’t think anyone, even on our side, expected it to actually connect the way it did. I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammiour director, he was amazing and it was a really fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they do next.
I honestly have no idea if they will actually be able to make a Halloween release in 2024 and keep the quality of the film as strong as the first. But good luck to the creative team! If they can pull this off, I’ll be high-fiving everyone on the creative team!
