Kaitlyn Dever (Stupid, no one will save you) joined the cast of The last of us Season 2. She is a major addition to the new season and will take on the role of Abby. The character is “a skilled soldier whose black-and-white worldview is tested as she seeks revenge for those she loved.” The character was played by Laura Bailey in the video game.
Co-creators of the series Craig Mazin AND Neil Druckmann, said in a statement: “Our casting process for season two was identical to that of season one: we look for world-class actors who embody the souls of the characters in the source material. Nothing matters more than talent and we are thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro, Bella and the rest of our family.”
The last of us takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed by a deadly virus. Joel (Pedro Pasquale), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Beautiful Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl who left an oppressive quarantine zone to join the Fireflies, a cure-seeking organization. What begins as a small job soon becomes a brutal and harrowing journey, as both must cross the United States and depend on each other for survival.
When season two was announced, Druckmann said, “I am humbled, honored and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey. Collaborating with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast and crew, and HBO has exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two! In addition to Pascal and Ramsey, the first season also stars Gabriele Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynkey, Storm Reid, Merle Dandridge, Jeffrey Pierce, Lamar Johnson, Keivonn Woodard, Graham Greene, Elaine Miles, Ashley Johnson AND Troy Baker.
The second season will be filmed in Vancouver as a significant part of the story The Last of Us Part II the video game is set in the Pacific Northwest. Production is expected to begin in February.
