Tom Cruise partners with Warner Bros. to develop new films

Tom Cruise has officially teamed up with Warner Bros. in a deal that will see him develop several new films with the studio. In a shared press release, it was revealed that Cruise will develop and produce “original and franchise theatrical films” to be led by him in 2024.

Cruise has worked on several films with WB in the past, including Edge of Tomorrow, The Last Samurai, Interview with the Vampire, Risky Business, Eyes Wide Shutand more with study. Cruise and his production company will also have offices on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank.

Cruise has worked for several years with Paramount Pictures developing projects there, and will continue to do so. This agreement will have no effect Mission: Impossible 8 or his $200 million space movie, directed by Doug Liman and set at Universal Pictures.

Cruise said in a statement: “I have great respect and admiration for David, Pam, Mike and the entire team at Warner Bros. Discovery and their commitment to cinema, film fans and the cinematic experience. I can’t wait to make great films together!”

Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group Co-Presidents and CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy said, “We are thrilled to be working with Tom, an absolute legend in the motion picture industry. Our vision, from day one, has been to rebuild this iconic studio back to the height of its glory days and, in fact, when we first met with David Zaslav to talk about joining the Warner Bros team Discovery, told us, “We’re on a mission to bring Warner Bros. back – we have the best assets, storytelling IP and talent in the business – and we need to bring Tom Cruise back to Warner Bros!”

They added: “Today this becomes reality and we are one step closer to achieving our ambition. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Tom to Warner Bros. and look forward to bringing his genius to life on screen for years to come.”

Well, I just hope this deal means Cruise will actually be able to get his Edge of tomorrow followed by the ground! It will be cool to see what film the actor and producer end up developing at the studio.
