Over the weekend, Taraji P. Henson was nominated for an Emmy, was nominated for Oscars, won 11 Image Awards, won a SAG Award, Golden Globes – you name it. So it’s a little surprising that she was a little unsure if she was the right actress to play Shug Avery in the new movie musical. The color purple, Adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. Henson even had the opportunity to play the part on Broadway one day, but turned it down because she was sure her voice was not suitable for eight performances a week. But fate intervened and now she’s hitting it on screen, a surprise to some who didn’t know her musical side. It first came to public attention with her performance of the 2005 Oscar-winning song “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp.” crowd and river, the first time she played with Terence Howard. The second, of course, was the iconic Cookie Lyon in the Fox series. rich which spanned from 2015 to 2020, and at one point there was even talk of an attendance for Henson. Which also had a musical background, and Henson also showed off her skills as a singer on NBC Annie Live! in which she played Miss Hannigan.
