Fargo AND Legion Creator Noah Hawley has been in production for his next film Alien TV series for FX, but due to the actors’ strike, which recently ended, he can’t do much. She has filmed some series without SAG-AFTRA members, but there is still a lot to do because the lead actress Sydney Chandlerwas not involved.
Hawley offered a recent update on the project and while speaking with The Wrap, he explained:
“I managed to complete filming for most of the first hour. That said, I didn’t get to film anything with my star. So I still have to film the majority of the show and we have another seven hours to shoot. I definitely would have liked to get the show in front of people as quickly as possible.
Due to the strike, however, the series’ release has been delayed and the director thinks it won’t premiere until 2025. He said:
“We’re all just waiting for the strike, and it’ll end. The plan right now is to go back in January and shoot in February, and it looks like we’ll shoot until July or so, which puts the air date somewhere in the first half of the 25th.
The story of the series “is set before Ripley. It’s the first story set on Earth in the Alien series.” It was also revealed that it will be set towards “the end of the century we’re in, so 70-odd years from now.” It will also be the first Alien story set on Earth.
The project is also said to combine “the timeless horror of the first Alien film with the non-stop action of the second, it will be a frightening thrill ride that will make people fall back in their seats.”
Hawley previously spoke about the project, saying: “It’s about how we’re caught between the primordial past and the artificial intelligence of our future, where both [are] trying to kill us. It is set on future Earth. Right now I describe it as Edison versus Westinghouse versus Tesla. Someone will monopolize the electricity. We just don’t know which one it is.”
He continued, “It’s a story also set on Earth. Alien stories are always trapped… Trapped in a prison, trapped in a spaceship. I thought it would be interesting to open it up a little bit so that the stakes were “What happens if you can’t contain it?” they are more immediate.”
The show is also the protagonist Alex Lawther (The end of the fucking world) in the role of the male protagonist, a soldier named CJ, with Samuel Blenkin (Black mirror) as another main character called Boy Kavalier, a CEO. Other cast members include Essie Davis (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries) in the role of Dame Silvia and Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger) like Slightly.
