EXCLUSIVE: Miriam Silverman (The wonderful Mrs. Maisel), newcomer Emily Arancio, Nestor Carbonell (The Morning Show) and Holland Taylor (The chair) is ready to play hometownan indie drama from MPI Original Films, which has begun production in New York under a tentative deal.

Silverman leads the cast as Cora, who forms a protective bond with her estranged daughter Zinnia (Arancio) in an alternate contemporary society where parents are forbidden to meet or raise their children. Evan Matthews (The Teleios Law) directed from a screenplay by Nicole Swinford. Summer Crockett Moore, Tony Glazer, Lana Link and Rob Pfaltzgraff produce with executive producer Nick Reid.

Silverman won the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for her role on Broadway The sign in Sidney Brustein’s window, with Oscar Isaac and Rachel Brosnahan. She was most recently seen on film in the true veteran thriller “Bleecker Street”. Break The actress also starred alongside John Boyega in Prime Video’s Emmy-winning comedy The wonderful Mrs. Maiselas well as his Dead Ringers Miniseries based on the film by David Cronenberg. Other TV credits include FX/Hulu’s critically acclaimed divorce drama Fleishman is in troublebased on the novel of the same name by author Taffy Brodesser-Akner, and also The black list (NBC) and Blue blood (CBS).

Arancio makes her film debut in Motherland after earning an MFA in acting from the University of Southern California.

Currently starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon on Apple TV+ The Morning ShowCarbonell is nearing the end of its third season and is best known for his prominent roles on the popular A&E series Bates Motel and ABCs Lost. The actor also has the FX/Hulu series coming up ShogunBased on the best-selling novel by James Clavell, premiering in February 2024.

She is also currently seen in the feature film comedy 20th/Hulu Quiz Lady, with Awkafina and Sandra Oh. The drama is one of the most recent projects from MPI Original Films, a subsidiary of the production company and talent factory Moving Picture Institute Mrs. Virginia with Orange is the new blackis Uzo Aduba and the real drama Pinball: the man who saved the gamewith west side storyis Mike Faist and Teenage wolfsaid Crystal Reed.
