“For Life” (2020-2021)
An incredibly inspiring true crime story about lifer Aaron Wallace, who earned a law degree in prison and was able to prove that he did not commit the crime for which he was imprisoned. Having investigated his own case, the man was not only released and continued to work as a lawyer, but also brought to justice everyone who had falsified his case.
The plot is based on the true story of lawyer Isaac Wright. He is portrayed by Nicholas Pinnock in the series.
“Dark Waters”, dir. Todd Haynes (2019)
Attorney Robert Bilott is challenging DuPont, a company that has been poisoning people for decades by contaminating drinking water with chemical waste (specifically PFOA, or a type of Teflon). It took 19 years to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The film is based on Nathaniel Rich’s article “The Lawyer Who Became DuPont’s Worst Nightmare,” published in The New York Times in 2016. The lead role was played by Mark Ruffalo. The ecological thriller also stars Anne Hathaway, Tim Robbins and Bill Pullman.
“Sloane’s Dangerous Game”, dir. John Madden (2016)
Lobbying shark Elizabeth Sloane (played by Jessica Chastain) fights for gun legislation. He skillfully manipulates people, collects incriminating evidence and corners them. However, no one knows his true purpose for which he is ready to risk even himself.
“You Better Call Saul” (2015-2022)
Bob Odenkirk in the role of charismatic criminal lawyer Saul Goodman was so liked by the audience in the series “Breaking Bad” that the spin-off “Better Call Saul” was dedicated to him, which turned out to be no less popular. Here we see the hero’s trials before opening a law office in Albuquerque.
