Pablo Picasso’s painting “Still Life with Guitar”, lost in transit, was found in a warehouse in Madrid and from there was sent to an exhibition in Granada. El Pais reports.
The miniature canvas measuring 12.7 x 9.8 centimeters was to be part of the exhibition “Still Life. The infinity of inertia” at the CajaGranada Foundation. It is known that the painting arrived in southern Spain in a minibus with other works of art, but it was not there when it was unpacked.
The investigation into the disappearance began on October 10, after the foundation’s management officially contacted the National Police. Law enforcement entered the painting into the Interpol database, which stores information on more than 57,000 stolen works of art. However, the inspection revealed inconsistencies in the numbering of the packages, and as a result, it was decided to re-check the storage facility.
Let us also remind you that the value of the work “Still Life with Guitar”, created in 1919, is estimated at 600 thousand euros (55 million rubles). Note ed.) and belongs to a private collector from Madrid.
