A heartwarming trailer for the HBO documentary has been released David Holmes: The Boy Who Livedwhich follows the life of Holmes, Daniel Radcliffe’s stuntman in the Harry Potter films who was paralyzed after breaking his neck during the production of the 2010 film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. The documentary compiles clips of a young Holmes developing his athletic abilities and eventually becoming a stuntman, as well as behind-the-scenes material from his work on the Harry Potter films. It also includes personal, candid footage from the past decade as Holmes learns to live with his disability.
The official synopsis of the film says so David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived aims to reflect “universal themes such as living with adversity, growing up, forging identities in an uncertain world, and the bonds that unite and lift us up.” “A terrible thing happened to Dave, but I don’t want to talk as if his life was a tragedy,” Radcliffe says in the trailer. “The way his life has affected the lives of the people around him means it’s the furthest thing from what you could imagine.”
For his part, Holmes says, “Before the accident, it was all about being cool and being a stuntman. Now it’s about being present. I have so much love in my life.”
David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived will premiere November 15 on HBO and will also stream on Max. Watch the trailer below:
