Todd Phillips has almost finished his next Joker sequel, Joker: Folie a Deux, which cinematographer Lawrence Sher says is “currently in the final stages of post-production.” Sher recently did an interview with Definition Magazine and offered some insight into the project stating that it’s a “big swing.” He said:
“One thing I appreciate about Todd Phillips – with whom I made seven films, including Joker – is that he always takes risks. The new Joker will be released next year and we are finishing post-production. This movie is a big change and will be really surprising for people. I’m so excited for everyone to see it.
Not much is known about the story that the Joker sequel will tell, but it is a musical and the story will be set mainly in Arkham Asylum. The working title of the film, Joker: Folie a Deuxrefers to the clinical term for the “shared madness”, hallucinations and delusions of two people.
Movie stars Joaquin Phoenix in the role of Joker, Zazie Beetz in the role of Sophie Dumond, with Catherine Keener, Jacob LoflandAND Brendan Gleeson who will play unknown characters.
Warner Bros. will release the film in theaters on October 4, 2024. You can see some previously released images of Harley Quinn in full costume here.
