Daniel Radcliffe produces a documentary about his stunt double who was paralyzed after the Deathly Hallows accident

Daniel Radcliffe he is the executive producer of a documentary focusing on his former stunt double who was paralyzed after an accident on the set of Harry Potter movie, Deathly Hallows Part 1.

The film is titled David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived and is produced by Sky and HBO Documentary Films. It is described as the “coming-of-age story of a prodigious teenage gymnast who forms an inextricable bond with Harry Potter star Radcliffe.”

The accident that left Holms paralyzed was caused by an explosion that was part of a planned stunt that knocked him to the ground, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down with a debilitating spinal injury that turned his life upside down. I don’t know the details, but it sounds like a heartbreaking yet inspiring story.

The documentary is said to include “candid personal footage filmed over the past decade, behind-the-scenes material from Holmes’ stunts, scenes from his current life, and intimate interviews with him, Radcliffe, friends, family and former crew, the the film reflects the universal themes of living with adversity, growth and the bonds that unite people.”

Radcliffe is the executive producer along with Holmes, the director Dan Hartley, Sue Latimer, Sarah Spahovic, Nancy Abraham, Lisa Heller, Tina Nguyen AND Poppy Dixon.

David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived will premiere next month.
