A travel agency in Sweden offers a money back guarantee if it rains during your holiday.
TUI Sweden has introduced its so-called “weather guarantee” for those worried that a downpour might affect their travel experience.
The Spanish company Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has been offering a “good weather guarantee” since 2007, which means guests can benefit from an extra night for every rainy day during their stay.
TUI Sweden customers have the option to purchase the guarantee at the time of booking. Costs vary depending on the weather forecast for the hotel’s location provided by Sensible Weather.
If rainfall amounts of 1.5 mm per hour or more are expected and last for at least two hours, the guarantee will be automatically activated, providing for same day compensation.

The amount refunded to the customer depends on the total cost of the holiday.
“We have no influence on the weather at our travel destinations, but with this weather guarantee, our customers can have a great holiday even if it rains,” says Tommy Serban, Commercial Director of TUI Nordic.
He pointed out that since the compensation is paid directly, tourists can spend the money on other activities such as shopping or visiting museums.
For customers booking a combination trip with TUI to selected destinations, the option will be available from October.
