Michael Cera was depressed after shooting SCOTT PILGRIM: ‘I could have kept doing it forever’

Edgar Wrightfilm adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. The world it’s such an insanely funny movie! There was so much explosive energy in that movie and it’s one of those movies that I watch a lot when I feel like I need a little energy boost in my life.

Michael Cera reprises his role as Scott Pilgrim in the fantastic upcoming Netflix anime series, Scott Pilgrim takes off. During a recent interview with GQ, Cera looked back on her fond memories of making the original film, saying:

“It was so fun the whole time because we had the best vibe with everyone. This basically came down to Edgar and the energy that he was creating. We all got to rehearse together and spend a lot of time together before we even started shooting the film.

He went on to explain that after he finished making the film he got a little depressed and said he could continue making Scott Pilgrim films forever. He explained:

“At the end of the movie, I was like, ‘This is my world. This is my group of friends. It seems that it will always be like this.’ Honestly, I was kind of bummed when we finished because everything goes away and you’re like, ‘Where did everybody go?’ You get used to it as you get older and you’ve been acting for a while, but I was sad to lose it. I could have kept doing this forever, even though it was exhausting.

Cera worked on the film for almost a year and with all the fights that had to be done, the cast had to undergo resistance training and fight choreography, which according to the actor looked “unnatural”. He added:

“There were a couple of times where I hurt myself…trying to block [a kick] again and again and find the right spot in the space to put your hand. One time I went too low and got the full blow of this guy’s butt, one of the stunt guys. It’s a crazy feeling that you can’t believe is happening to your hand. You didn’t know you had these muscles in your hand and now they’ve been throbbing for like a week. Like a train hit me in the hand. Is very strange.

The eight episodes Scott Pilgrim takes off the series is based on the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley and the original cast of Wright’s live-action film is back to voice their characters, which is great!

The returning cast of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off also includes Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the role of Ramona Fiori, Satya Bhabha like Matteo Patel, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pellegrino, Brie Larson as Adams envies, Alison pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Jason Schwartzmann as Gideon Graves, Johnny Simmons as “young” Neil Nordegraf, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Mae Whitman as Roxie Richter, e Elena Wong such as Chau Knives.
