STAR WARS: AHSOKA director lineup finally revealed

Director training for Dave Filoni’S Star Wars: Ahsoka series has finally been revealed. Filoni, who is the writer and producer of the project, directed two episodes of the eight-episode series, Episodes 1 and 5.

The rest of the directors include the Oscar nominee Stephen Green (Guardians) who directed episodes 2 and 3, Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) directed episode 4, Jennifer Getzinger (Mad Men) directed episode 6, Geeta Vasant Patel (House of the Dragon) came on board for episode 7, and Rick Famuyiwa (The Mandalorian) directed episode 8.

There’s a lot of solid talent there, and I have no doubt that they’ve all done a great job directing their segments. With Filoni tackling the first and fifth episodes, I guess those are the ones he connected with the most. When she previously spoke about the show and his experience developing it, he said it’s “everything I could hope for.”

“Oh, that’s amazing. I mean, it’s all I could hope for. I never dreamed of it [running a live-action series] as I was learning over the years. But to have a character that has just come up over the years with a lot of fans as they’ve gotten older and is now at the point where we can do that, it’s wonderful to be the same person guiding him through the different mediums, I think it gives a texture to the character that is very unusual.”

Filoni continued:

“A lot of times when you’re an animator, you look at your creation as a spin-off and it’s taken by other people, you never know. And you want to care for these characters because you know them so well and it’s a very unique situation where there we find, but it’s great. There’s no other way to put it. The simple answer is just, ‘Yes, it’s great.'”

The show will pick up where Star Wars Rebels interrupted and the search for Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) and Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) really starts. The official logline reads: “Set after the fall of the Empire, Star Wars: Ahsoka follows former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) while investigating an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) joins Ahsoka on her journey. They will be joined by Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and most likely the droid, Chopper and Zeb will also return. The series is also starring Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Ray Stevenson such as Baylon, e Ivanna Sakhno like ShinHati.

The limited series is written by Dave Filoni which produces executive along with Jon Favreau AND Kathleen Kennedy.

Ahsoka will debut on Disney+ on August 23, 2023.
