Lupita Nyong’o Reportedly In Talks For Lead Role In Disney’s Live-Action Remake Of THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG

Rumors are swirling about a possible live-action remake from Disney The Princess and the Frog. The studio hasn’t come out and confirmed the news, but between their plans to seemingly recreate their entire animated library with live-action remakes and Disney’s current overhaul of their beloved attraction Splash Mountain as an animation-focused ride Princess and the Frog movie, it would make sense to see a live-action movie to tie into the ride.

Among these rumors there is talk of who will play the lead role in the film. According to industry scooper MyTimetoShineHello on TwitterDisney is reportedly watching Lupita Nyong’o for the lead role of Tiana. Nyong’o has worked with Disney several times before, as the voice of Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens AND Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalkeras well as in the animated series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. Nyong’o also played Nakia in the Marvel Studios blockbuster Black Panther franchise, as well as the 2016 Disney biopic Queen of Katwe and Jon Favreau’s live-action remake The Jungle Book.

If cast in the role, Nyong’o will play Princess Tiana, a waitress desperate to fulfill her dreams as a restaurant owner who is on a journey to turn a frog prince into a human. But she faces the same problem after kissing him.

I think they would make a great match for the princess, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
