Christopher Nolan is known for its films with complex storylines and stellar casts such as I remember, StartTHE dark Knight trilogy, Interstellar, Principleand his most recent blockbuster, Oppenheimer. But just like any other movie buff, Nolan has guilty pleasures, and his favorite of his is Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
Nolan revealed on Eisen’s Rich Show during his Oppenheimer press tour he considers Talladega Nights be one of the “great comedies,” which might come as a surprise to anyone who thought the Oscar-nominated director was a movie snob. Eisen asked Nolan to name his favorites “remote launches,” referring to movies you simply have to watch every time you flip through TV channels and see it’s on.
“I mean, god, anything [Stanley] Kubrick, You know? It’s a remote launch,” Nolan said. “And some of the great comedies too, I mean Talladega NightsI will never be able to change it.
“The Ballad of Ricky Bobby Is this a Christopher Nolan mic drop movie? asked Eisen.
“If you’re not first, you’re last,” Nolan replied, referring to Will Ferrell’It’s the famous catchphrase of the 2006 comedy about the rise, fall, and rebirth of a race car driver. Ferrell starred in the Adam McCay-comedy directed opposite John C. Reilly, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gary Cole AND Michael Clark Duncan.
Nolan has already sung Kubrick’s praises, quoting 2001: A Space Odyssey as one of the greatest movies ever made, but it’s not much more interesting that he loves Talladega Nights? I think so.
