Keith David will replace Lance Reddick in the DESTINY 2 expansion

Keith David (Gargoyles) will assume the role of Commander Zavala in Destiny 2the impending expansion of, The final form. David replaces the deceased Lance Reddick, who passed away earlier this year. The announcement came from game developer Bungie:

“Earlier this year we lost Lance Reddick, the English-language voice actor for Commander Zavala. The passion and professionalism that Lance brought to the role over the past decade was unmistakable and loved by all. Lance’s iconic voice has guided us through the most poignant moments in Destiny history, and his impact on our Guardians, our community, and Bungie as a whole will never be forgotten.

“Commander Zavala has been at the center of the story we’ve told since the original Destiny, and we plan to continue his journey.

“Keith David, a prolific actor on stage and television, film and games, will take on the English-language voice of Zavala in The Final Shape and beyond. Separately, Lance’s existing lines in the game will remain intact for the next release.

Keith shared a statement: “I am honored to continue the great work of Lance Reddick as Zavala. Lance has captured the character’s sense of integrity beautifully. It is my intention to continue that work.” Also, in a video shared on X, David said, “One of the great qualities of Zavala that appeals to me, that’s his integrity and his sense of family, and I thought Lance captured that beautifully. And it’s my intention to continue that work and continue to bring that kind of integrity to the role.”

Reddick’s existing lines in the game will remain intact and unchanged for the next release. David has had a solid relationship with Bungie, having previously voiced the character of the Arbiter back in 2004 halo 2.

The final form is the eighth expansion of Destiny 2 and the twelfth expansion of Destiny franchise. The final shape is described as the final content pack for The Light and Darkness Saga where all events up to then will come to a culmination.
