The first reactions of critics to DC Studios Blue Beetle movies have surfaced on social media and for the most part there is a lot of positive buzz! I said the movie looks to be a lot of fun and judging by what people are saying, it will provide some solid entertainment!
Now, I will say, The flash it also got a lot of positive buzz before it was released, and that didn’t really help it at the box office. The big test will be whether people and fans actually go to theaters to see the movie when it comes out. One of the great things Blue Beetle has going for it that The Flash doesn’t, is that there’s no such controversy as Ezra Miller surrounding Blue Beetle.
We’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves if the film is good, in the meantime read the reviews!

Blue Beetle entertained me much more than I thought. It exudes the feelings of Iron Man and offers an intimate and realistic story about family and moral values. Susan Sarandon is the comic villain I didn’t know I needed. George Lopez is hilarious!

Blue Beetle was directed by Angelo Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) from a screenplay adapted by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala). The film is the protagonist Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) as Reyes; Bruna Marchezine as Penny, the female lead and love interest; Belissa Escobedo as Jamie’s younger sister Milagros; as well as Harvey Guillen; AND Susan Sarandon as the villain, Victoria Kord.
In the film, “Recent college graduate Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find home isn’t quite as he left it. As he tries to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Beetle. When the Beetle suddenly chooses Jaime as its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with incredible armor with extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero BLUE BEETLE.
The film will only be released in theaters on August 18, 2023.
