New report reveals that STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER cost Disney nearly 0 million

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker it apparently took the production budget to a whole new level of insanity and is one of the most expensive films ever made.

According to a new report from Forbes, the “total cost” of the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga would have reached $593 million, making it the third most expensive film ever made, just behind The Force awakens AND Jurassic world domination. This is much higher than the previously reported $415 million figure.

That staggering sum includes everything from production and filming costs to post-production and marketing expenses. Yet, surprisingly, The Rise of Skywalker It actually came within budget. Disney even received refunds of more than $100 million, softening the financial blow.

Of course, the high price doesn’t tell the whole story of how turbulent the film’s journey to the screen has been. Before JJ Abrams returned to conclude the trilogy, Episode IX was originally supposed to be directed by Colin Trevorrowwho had developed his own version of the titled story Duel of the Fates. After creative differences led to his departure, Abrams stepped in to direct the finale of the Skywalker Saga.

Years later, Trevorrow spoke openly about his complicated relationship with Star Wars, saying:

“My son and I decided to watch it all Andor this summer. But I have to be honest; it’s been a struggle for me to commit to anything Star Wars-related only on an emotional level. So, to the team he created AndorI guess I can say you’re the ones who finally brought me back.

While The Rise of Skywalker marked the end of an era, the Star Wars the franchise is finally moving forward on the big screen again. The next theatrical chapter will come with The Mandalorian and Grogucharacterized Pedro Pasquale back in his iconic armor alongside everyone’s favorite little green guy, Grogu. Looks like they’ll find themselves on another wild adventure!

While The Rise of Skywalker fans divided Star Wars it remains one of the most ambitious franchises in Hollywood history.
