Lionsgate has released a trailer for Dear David trailer for his upcoming film adaptation of the former Buzzfeed employee’s viral social media ghost story.
Ellis shared the ghost story on Twitter in August 2017 “focused on a dead boy who used to haunt and follow him around. The story went viral over the course of several months, with Ellis amassing over a million followers.
In the film: “Shortly after cartoonist Adam responds to internet trolls, he begins to experience sleep paralysis, as an empty rocking chair shakes in the corner of his apartment. As he recounts increasingly malevolent events in a series of tweets, Adam begins to believe he’s being haunted by the ghost of a dead boy named David. Encouraged by his boss to continue the “Dear David” thread, Adam begins to lose control of what is online… and what is real.”
Dear David is directed by John McPhail (Anna and the Apocalypse) from a screenplay written by Mike Van Waes. The film is the protagonist Augustus Prew like adam, Justin Long like Bryce, Andrew Bang like Evelyn, Rachel Wilson like Linda, Ethan Hwang like James, Tricia Black like Norris, Rene Escobar Jr. as Kyle Sanchez, Rachel resurrected like Olives and more.

The film will debut October 13 in theaters, digitally and on VOD.
