Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster is developing an Insidious spin-off film with Mandy Moore (Doctor Death) AND Kumail Nanjiani (Welcome to Chippendales) intended to star in the film. The film is titled Thread: An insidious story.
The story of the film is very different from what we have seen before in the franchise. It will follow a husband and wife (Nanjiani and Moore) “who enlist the aid of a spell to travel back in time so they can prevent the death of their young daughter. The consequences, of course, prove to be serious.”
I love that they’re expanding the franchise and doing something different with it. It looks like it’s going to make for a big horror story which isn’t the norm for the film franchise. The film will be written and directed by Knight of the Moon Creator Jeremy Slater.
This news comes as Patrick Wilson’S Insidious: The Red Door it will be out this summer. That film takes place ten years after the last film. In the story, “Josh Lambert (Wilson) heads east to abandon his son Dalton (Ty Simkins) in an idyllic ivy-covered university. However, Dalton’s college dream turns into a nightmare when repressed demons from his past suddenly come back to haunt them both.
It is explained: “To silence their demons once and for all, Josh and a college-age Dalton must delve into The Further like never before.”
This will most likely be the last film following the story of the Lamb family.
