‘The Walking Dead’: first photo of Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes in his spin-off with Michonne

The most famous apocalyptic series of all time, ‘The Walking Dead’ ended in November with its latest chapter, ‘Rest in Peace’, but as we have long known, this it wasn’t going to be the end of the franchisethat he would continue his zombie world in several spinoffs, one of them centered around Rick Grimes and Michonne.

After original series star Rick disappeared in season 9 by helicopter, and Michonne also left a season later to go on a mission to find her husband, Greg Nicotero, the show’s executive producer and director of the final chapter, said That couldn’t conceive of an ending without Rick, so he brought it back in the last episode. Here we were told that Rick is a recipient of the Military Civic Republic and an employee of the decontamination centers where mass sacrifices are made to clean up entire states of walkers. AS, Nicotero explained that it was a way to show that his story continued even if the series had come to an end..

And so it was, shooting started a week ago. The AMC franchise reported this in a Twitter post where it indicates: “Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira are back on set! The next chapter in Rick and Michonne’s story begins…”. Now, thanks to Gurira’s posting on Instagram, we got a glimpse of Rick in blood, accompanied by a caption asking the actress if anyone has seen the man.

As confirmed by ComicBook, the first season of the series, which will consist of six episodes, will premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2024after the season finale of ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ and the rest of the spin-offs: ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ which will be released in June, and ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ which will be released this year, no date yet confirmed.

Crazy and epic love story

In 2022, in the special of “The Walking Dead Universe Preview”, Gimple described the series centered on these two characters as a “crazy and epic love story”. Also, on what we would see in the series, he said: “These two are people who have been separated for a long time. They have lived completely different lives and they have to find each other, but also have to leave each other alone. I hope it’s great”adding that we would see their deadliest versions where we would not only see the powerful couple but, individually, we would also see “Red Machete Rick and a Michonne who taught the Governor a thing or two”. In the end he stressed that the series would go “coast to coast that way between the intimate, the epic and the insane”.
