Antonio Macchie will have its work cut out for him as the new Captain America in the MCU. Steve Rogers has left behind some big shoes to fill, and as we’ve seen The Falcon and the Winter SoldierSam Wilson is ready to take on the role of Captain America.
His story will continue in the director Julius Ona’S Captain America: New World Order, which is sure to tell an interesting story. Mackie recently spoke about taking on the role of Cap and how his character is different from Steve Rogers and the rest of the superheroes in the MCU. He explained to Empire Magazine:
“Sam is the only character without superpowers. He’s just a regular guy who hangs out with a bunch of weirdos. Being from New Orleans, I’ve gotten into a few fights. And heart and charisma have never helped me in a fight. Usually it just made me beat up, so that could cause problems when you go to fight someone like Thanos.
“So, I think with him, he has to go on stage with a very different understanding of what it means to be a good guy or be a bad guy and what decisions make you walk that line the way you do. So, I just see that like a more humane Cap than a judge’s distinctive Cap… [a] Judgment cap, where this is right and this is wrong. There are decisions that make you choose right or wrong.”
So, it seems his version of Cap will be operating in a grayer area of decision making, which makes sense. This should spice things up and add a different dynamic to the Avengers team.
We don’t have any story details to share for the film, but we do Harrison FordMCU character Thaddeus Ross will be the president of the United States. Kevin Feige he spoke to that dynamic in the film, saying, “There’s a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this movie we see the dynamic between Captain America and the President of the United States in a way that’s just incredible.”
I’m very curious to see how it will be. The script for New world order was written by Dalan Musson AND Malcolm Spellmanfor which they both wrote The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Spellman will produce alongside Feige. The film is also the protagonist Shira Haas, TimBlake NelsonAND Charles Lumbly.
